In 2023, Rita took a leap of faith that would change her life forever. She had always dreamt of exploring the world, so when she was presented with the chance to teach English in Thailand, she followed her heart. Although she never left the U.S before, Rita knew that this was her moment. She suddenly found herself in the province of Chiang Rai where destiny had other plans for her.

It was there she met Jared, her fellow co-worker from the Philippines. He had embarked on his own journey to Thailand many years ago, as his parents were living there as missionaries. Jared worked as a teacher right after graduating university.

Jared began his job at a new school in the start of 2023. A few months later, Rita came along. Though they were from opposite corners of the world, it felt as if they were meant to meet. Together they explored Chiang Rai, wandering through temples, relaxing at cozy cafes, and strolling through bustling markets. Every adventure became even more enjoyable simply by being in each other’s presence.

In October, Jared asked Rita to commit to a serious relationship, a moment filled with joy and promise. However, they both knew their time together was limited, as Rita planned to return to the U.S. Before she left, something unexpected happened: surrounded by their beloved cats—Mitchy, Sultan, Levi, and Moji—Jared got down on one knee and asked Rita to be his forever!
